The decisions
In this book a lot of characters made many important decisions I am going to talk about a few of them and what my opinions are on those decisions. Annemarie: The main character of this book and the person who made a lot of major, important decisions.
To start of with Annemarie and her quick thinking saved her best friend Ellen's life. She did so by yanking off the necklace which had a Star of David in it so that when the nazi soldiers came they couldn't see the Star of David. Star of David is a sign of Judaism so if the solider knew Ellen has a Star of David, they would automatically know that Ellen is a Jew and they would "relocate" her to concentration camps or killing centers. Here's a picture of Annemarie's dashing attempt to save Ellen:
I think that Annemarie made a rather courageous decision when she knew the soldiers were coming so due to her quick thinking she saved Ellen for the reasons I mentioned above. If I was in Annemarie's place I probably would have been hiding underneath the bed with Ellen instead of doing what Annemarie did.
She also made a decision to be honest to the Nazi soldiers when they caught Ellen, Kirsti and her when they were running. When she answered the soldiers questions. Here's a picture.
I think if I was in Annemarie's place I would have answered dishonestly because first of all I don't even know that person and also I know they are against me because they invaded my country and why should I tell someone the truth if I know they are against me?
